The legal stuff

We never ask for your bank login. We never sell your data. We only collect what we need to make the app work, and you can delete everything any time.
When you use the AI receipt scanner, the text you paste is sent to Anthropic to read it — so don't paste full card or bank-account numbers.
The long version is below in plain English.
Charge Ninja ("we", "us", "our") is a mobile and web app that helps you find, track, and cancel unwanted recurring subscriptions. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Charge Ninja you agree to this policy.
If you have any questions, email us at hello@chargeninja.app.
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password. That's the entire account record.
Anything you enter about your subscriptions — service name, cost, billing cycle, renewal date, notes — is stored in your account so we can track it for you. You typed it; you can edit or delete it any time.
If you choose to use the AI receipt-scan feature, the text you paste (and any receipt image) is sent to Anthropic's Claude API — using Charge Ninja's own API key — to extract the subscription details for you. Because you choose what to paste, that text may contain financial information such as merchant names, amounts, and renewal dates. We do not store the raw text or image after parsing beyond what's needed to return the result.
Please don't paste full card numbers or bank-account numbers — they aren't needed to track a subscription, and you shouldn't send them to any AI service. Prefer to keep the AI off? Manual entry always works, with nothing sent to Anthropic.
If you invite a trusted contact (or accept an invite from someone else), we store the link between your accounts and the permission level you granted ("alerts" or "manage"). The other person only sees data you've already entered into your own account.
Standard server logs (IP address, request time, endpoint) are kept for short-term operational and security purposes. We do not use analytics SDKs that track you across other apps.
We use a small number of trusted services to operate Charge Ninja:
Each of these has its own privacy policy and we only share the minimum data needed for them to do their job.
Your account data is stored on servers we control, encrypted at rest. We use industry-standard security practices (HTTPS in transit, hashed passwords, environment-scoped secrets). No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously and will tell you promptly if anything goes wrong.
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data from our active systems within 30 days. Backups may persist for up to 90 days before they cycle out.
You can, at any time:
If you're in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR, UK-GDPR, and CCPA (access, rectification, deletion, portability, objection). To exercise these, email us — we'll respond within 30 days.
Charge Ninja lets you invite a trusted contact to help watch your subscriptions. This is opt-in on both sides — both people must accept the link before any data is shared.
Charge Ninja is intended for users 13 and older. If you're under 13, please don't use the app. If we learn we've collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it.
Charge Ninja is operated from the United States. If you use it from elsewhere, your data will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. We take steps to ensure your data has appropriate protection regardless of where it lives.
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll notify you in the app and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Charge Ninja after a change means you accept the updated policy.
Questions, complaints, requests — anything at all: hello@chargeninja.app.
